Behind the scenes: How we make our new Shower Bars

At WiDEYE, all our shower bars are made in Rye Harbour.

With the new bars launching soon, here’s a look at how they’re made.

The molds

We’ve moved from smaller molds to 45kg molds. Each one produces around 300 bars at a time. It might sound like we’re just making more at once, but the bigger change is what it does to the bar itself.

The gel stage

With a bigger batch, more heat is retained inside the mold. That heat moves through the entire block as it sets, pushing the soap through what’s called the gel stage. A phase where the soap fully transforms.

It’s not something you see from the outside, but it changes the overall performance of the final bar.

The first 48 hours

Once poured, each mold is wrapped and left for 48 hours. This gives the soap time to set properly before it’s cut.

Cutting the bars

After that, the blocks are removed and cut into logs, then into individual bars.

Each one now comes out at around 140g. Slightly bigger than the current bars, designed to last that bit longer in your daily routine.

Curing

Once cut, the bars head onto racks in our warehouse and stay there for three weeks. This is where they firm up properly, lose excess moisture, and settle into their final form.

Not the fastest part of the process, but a big part of why the finished bars last longer and feel better in your shower.

The result

By changing the way we make them, the bars come out:

  • Harder
  • Longer lasting
  • Smoother to use
  • With a creamier foam

Same ingredients. Same scents. Just a better way of making them.

Made in Rye Harbour

Every WiDEYE shower bar is still poured, cut and finished right here, in Rye, by our team.

If you want to see the full process, we’ll be sharing a bts video next week for launch over on our socials.
