Have a great Black Friday weekend
Nov 19, 2025
Buy what you need. Go outside.
Every November, our inboxes fill with countdowns, discounts, and flash sales — all urging us to buy before time runs out. We don’t take part in Black Friday, and here’s why.
At WiDEYE, our goal has always been simple: to make high-quality personal care products that support active, outdoor lifestyles — for a fair and honest price. That’s why you’ll never see flash discounts or panic-driven sales from us.
We know times are tough, and we’ve had to make some small price adjustments this year, too. Since we first launched our shower bars back in 2015, we’d only raised the price once — by just 50p. This year, we’ve had to increase it again — not because we wanted to, but because our costs have gone up. Still, we keep our prices as fair as we can because we believe good products should be priced honestly and not inflated and then slashed for one weekend.
We know not everyone sees it the same way, but here’s why Black Friday doesn’t sit right with us.
1. Quantity over intention
Black Friday is built around one idea — buy more. The pressure, the countdowns, the so-called “savings”… it all encourages impulse rather than intention. We believe you feel better surrounded by things you’ve chosen thoughtfully — things you’ll actually use and appreciate.
2. Misleading value
Many of the biggest discounts you see aren’t what they seem. Inflated RRPs, fake savings, and manufactured urgency are all part of a system designed to make you feel like you’re missing out. We’d rather build trust over time than trick anyone into a purchase.
3. Environmental impact
The cycle of overbuying and returning has a huge environmental cost. In the UK alone, by some estimates, about one in three Black Friday purchases are returned — and as much as 80% of what’s bought ends up in landfill after just a few uses. That’s a lot of waste for one weekend.
So this year, if you’d like to, join us in skipping the noise. Take a breath. Step outside. Buy what you need — and nothing more.
Have a great Black Friday weekend.
