BTS | Our Latest Plans

Anyone who's worked in a new business or even just watched a few episodes of Dragons Den will know, that growing a business isn't the easiest thing to do. You will make a plan and everything will point towards it working, but in reality, you can rarely predict what will happen.

Whilst we find it hard to believe, through all the ups and downs, we're coming up to our 10-year anniversary at WiDEYE, and we've been doing a lot of thinking about what our next steps are going to be as a brand.

Over the past 12 months, the ideas have been flowing but early on in the year we hit our first hurdle... with enough ideas to fill an entire novel, knowing where to start has been a bit of a challenge. However, we've condensed the list down to some key areas, with a few ideas already starting to become reality.

One thing that's consistently come up in conversation,  is the importance of staying true to our roots. So before we get into our latest plans, let's go back 15 years.

The very first iteration of WiDEYE was actually a retail store called ‘Tarifa Green’ - which our founder Lawrence and his partner Georgie opened on the southern tip of Spain, which also happens to be one of the windiest places in the world and faces its fair share extreme weather. Struggling to find effective products that didn't contain questionable synthetic ingredients, Tarifa Green was born.

Fast forward to 2015, after moving back to the UK Tarifa Green was reincarnated as WiDEYE, with its own unique formulas made in Rye Harbour. The mission, make effective natural products that help your body recover from whatever the outdoors throws at it.

You might be thinking why this matters… As we’ve grown, so has our team. so we want to make sure our path is clear for both our staff and our customers.

When we say we need to stay true to our roots, we're not necessarily making any big changes, we're just doubling down on our original mission. Make the best products out there to repay your body for all the work it does protecting you from the elements.

So what do our latest developments look like?

New Shower Bar Travel Cases
Take your shower bars with you on your next escape.

Lots of you spend your weekends or holidays exploring some of the more rural places our planet has to offer. If you're off exploring you'll want to take your WiDEYE essentials with you, however, we've had some feedback from customers saying that our soap isn't the easiest product to travel with, but this is all set to change!

We’ve found a plastic-free accessory that turns our shower bars into your new favourite travel companion. So when you go on your next adventure, you can forget about the nasty soap that comes with your accommodation and bring your favorite WiDEYE bar with you.

We're hoping to launch the cases in April, so keep your eyes peeled.

Ambassador collaboration sets
Collections to support your favourite activity.

We’re partnering with our ambassadors to create product collections that enhance your daily activities. First up, we are collaborating with Jas Newsome Yoga. Her practice encourages a deeper appreciation of the world around you. She's curated a selection of products in our Ommm range, allowing you to carry the feeling of calm from your practice into other stages of your day. The set will launch in mid-April.

Face Cream Samples
Help your skin recover from your daily adventures.

These launched a few months back but had been in the pipeline for some time. In short, we struggled to find packaging that wasn't compostable or even recyclable. That was until we came across a solution which is home-compostable. So if you've been feeling the effects of the cold, sun, wind or general pollution, you can now test out our face creams before committing to the full size.

These are just a few new ideas we have in the works, we'll be sharing loads more on our blog in the coming months for all our newsletter subscribers. If you have any ideas for us, just drop a comment below, we'll be sharing them at our next team meeting! 🙌

  • . My favorite products sre the soap bars you do are will keep ordering them , I’d love to see the surfers against sewage bar to be permanent and more similar strong fragrance soaps . I would try the travel shower bars but honestly don’t find the regular soap bars hard to travel with and we travel a lot

  • What about selling refills? Either for us to take our empty bottles or spray cans into a store (or rye harbour warehouse?)and/ or sell concentrated refills so that we add our own water at home. The latter method avoids carrying lots of water about.

  • Love the idea of travel cases as much prefer to take soaps rather than liquids. Great idea.
