‘It left my legs feeling less achy than they normally would and the smell is amazing!’
So what’s actually happening when essential oils come to the rescue? 🤔
You might have noticed that we’re pretty big on them, using a huge variety across our range for specific purposes. However it's not widely understood what actually makes them do what they say on the tin. So in this post, we’re going to take a look at the ins and outs of our Muscle Management blend and how it helps us feel like humans again after a long day.
Muscle management is made up of a few key ingredients - Black Pepper, Rosemary, Ginger, Lavender and Clary Sage essential oils. We chose these for the warming yet soothing effects they have when combined, which contributes to easing muscle pain. We're going to focus on the main ones, Black Pepper and Rosemary, then give you some insight in to the blend!
Black Pepper Essential Oil
What studies say - A study conducted by the Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation found that topical application of black pepper essential oil reduced muscle pain and increased flexibility incollege students after a single bout of exercise.
The explanation - When applied topically to the skin, black pepper essential oil can penetrate deep into the muscles and joints, where it can help to reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation. This increased blood flow can help to flush out toxins and reduce muscle stiffness and soreness, leading to a reduction in muscle pain.
It can also help your body release endorphins - those natural painkillers we make ourselves. So, not only can it help reduce pain, it can also help you feel more relaxed and happy.
Rosemary Essential Oil
What studies say - A study published in the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing found that rosemary essential oil applied topically to the skin helped to reduce pain and improve mobility in individuals with knee osteoarthritis.
The explanation - It helps dues to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Active compounds penetrate the skin helping to reduce stress and inflammation.
We also love this essential oil for how warming it is on the skin, giving you a really nice tingling sensation.
Because of all these benefits, we found them to be the perfect pairing for reducing aches and pains. The combo also makes for an incredibly fiery, spicy scent that works to relax the senses and leave you feeling refreshed and renewed. With the added Ginger, Lavender & Clary Sage, we've been able to create something that not only soothes, but deeply warms the effected area.
